About Jo Burgen
Jo Burgen is a proud Waanyi woman from Mount Isa, Queensland, who turned her hobby into a business called Six Sister Girls after 15 years. The name honors the six girls in her family and the women who are like sisters to her.
Her mum played a big role in inspiring her creativity. Jo has strong ties to the Gulf of Carpentaria and other family areas like Doomadgee and Mornington Island. Six Sister Girls sells handmade items with vibrant Indigenous prints, each one unique and carefully crafted.
This small family business is 100% Waanyi owned and supports Indigenous communities. Buying from Six Sister Girls not only helps Jo’s family but also benefits other Indigenous Australians.
