This small, handmade basket is tightly woven using hand-dyed raffia and paper raffia in Torres Strait Island colours of blue, white, green, and black. Measuring 19.8 cm in diameter and 2.3 cm in height, it is a beautifully crafted piece, perfect as a decorative item or for holding small treasures.

Bronwyn Minniecon, based in Cairns, is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artist. She honours her Gooreng Gooreng/Gubbi Gubbi heritage from her father and her Torres Strait Islander roots from Moa and Darnley Islands through her art. Bronwyn actively shares her cultural knowledge with her children and grandchildren, ensuring the stories and traditions of both her cultures are carried forward.
