This vibrant, shallow handwoven raffia basket by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artist Bronwyn Minniecon is a stunning showcase of traditional craftsmanship. Measuring approximately 27.5 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm high, the basket features a tightly woven natural raffia base with 16 precise rounds. The sides, standing 2 rounds high, are adorned with bright, hand-dyed raffia in an almost rainbow-like array of colours, including purple, yellow, orange, red, dark green, mauve, and dark blue. This beautifully crafted piece reflects many hours of skilled weaving and is perfect as a decorative accent or for light use.

Bronwyn Minniecon, based in Cairns, honours her Gooreng Gooreng/Gubbi Gubbi and Torres Strait Islander heritage through her weaving. Each creation reflects her dedication to preserving cultural traditions and sharing them with her family.
