Handcarved Mini “Wayin” Bird by Nyembur 14cm tall

Description

This charming 14 cm mini bird, known as “wayin,” is handcarved and hand-painted by Aboriginal artist Nyembur from the Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Centre in Yirrkala, northeast Arnhem Land. Featuring intricate carvings on its back, along with a carved eye, beak, and little wings glued on, the bird is painted in traditional Yolŋu colours with a black chest. The base is slightly uneven, so the bird may require blue tack to stand securely or be laid down. This lightweight piece beautifully showcases Yolŋu craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Approximate diameter: 3 cm.
