About the Artist

Chern’ee Sutton is a proud Aboriginal artist and Kalkadoon woman from the Emu Foot Province, located in the Mount Isa region of North West Queensland. Her lineage includes her Great, Great, Great Grandmother, an apical ancestor of the Kalkadoon people, and a connection to Charlie Perkins, the renowned Aboriginal activist who led the Freedom Ride in the late 1960s.

Chern’ee’s artistic journey began at the age of 13 when she entered her first art competition, winning first place in the open category. Inspired by her heritage and passion for storytelling through art, she has been painting passionately ever since.
