Painting’s opened my eyes to my own family, to my grandfathers, it’s giving me a chance to explore. That’s what it means to me, bringing me back to my culture. I express myself through my painting, that’s who I am.” Wilson’s work is held in private collections and the collection of the Queensland Art Gallery.

Artwork details: Thanbe chest markings, 2007, synthetic polymer paint on linen, 1520 x 1210 mm.

Artwork story: This painting shows the chest markings of the totem Thanbe (shovel nosed shark).
