ARTIST:
Carl Marun Fourmile is an initiated member of the Waluparra clan of the Yidinji Nation in Far North Queensland. Raised in Yarrabah, one of Australia’s largest Aboriginal communities, he grew up immersed in culture, spending much of his time learning from his grandparents. A dancer, musician, and storyteller, Carl shares and celebrates Yidinji traditions through his performances and artwork.
Artwork Details: Djumbun (2009) is a three-colour etching created using three plates, in a limited edition of 30. It was published by Djumbunji Press KickArts Fine Art Printmaking.
Artwork Story: This design, passed down from Carl’s great-great-grandfather, represents moth eggs and larvae.
