Wadgina (2) – Sitting Female Wadgina Holding One Turtle and One Spear

This artwork by Rod Lucas, a Takalaka artist from the Gulf of Carpentaria, features a female depiction of Wadgina, the thunderstorm spirit. She holds one turtle and one spear, symbolising her connection to both nurturing and hunting. Painted on a freshwater turtle shell, the white Wadgina figure is set against a red ochre background and a yellow ochre rim, all achieved using acrylic paints.
