Artwork Story
The freshwater brim is common throughout the Wakka Wakka country waters, creeks, and river system.
This painting depicts my culture through the art, using various colours. Yellow symbolises my interpretation of the sun. Black represents my skin. Red represents my blood for culture. The brown-red dots represent the coming of the dry season. Yellow dots represent the soil. The creek system is drying up, and the water is starting to drop and dry up. The white represents pure water, essential for life. The lines are to walk straight with my culture and beliefs.
Note: Wesley Williams is not a Gulf artist, but his artwork is part of the Wes Williams Collection at Ancient Journeys. These paintings showcase his country, Cherbourg, Queensland.
