Artwork Story
The animals in the painting represent my journey through culture and hardship. The animals provided me with food throughout the 1960s. I would go out with the old men and hunt. I can never forget that part of my journey—learning how to provide food and survive.
Watching and listening to the old men teach me knowledge, spirit, strength, and wisdom. Painting is one of my strong values in life with culture. It is my representation of who I am as an Aboriginal man.
The background is the land I hunt and walk. The animals are the type of food sources. The circles with white dots represent a cycle of balanced, sustainable hunting food practices—take what is needed.
